Volunteerism, Preservation and Culture

There are approximately 7000 languages currently being used in the world today. There is an infinite amount of acquired knowledge, tradition and culture woven into these languages. Many people think that there is nothing left to discover in this big world that we all share. But nothing could be further from the truth! There are mysteries yet to solve in the deepest oceans, on land, in the air and in our solar system and beyond. In a hundred years our oceans and lands will probably still be here, but more than a thousand of our languages could be permanently gone, lost forever in this time. When a language is lost, a part of humanity is lost with it. Can you imagine the scope of the tragedy if a thousand languages were lost?

We hope you are asking yourself at this point, "What can I do?". There is a lot that you can do! The first thing we ask of you is for your time. We have tasks for you, whether you are new to languages or a world-renowned linguist. Second, we ask that you participate in our language lessons. Choose a language that you have always wanted to learn, or go to our Explore section and learn some things about languages that will leave you amazed, excited and hungry to learn. You can also help other students who are studying your native language by volunteering your time to correct assignments from eager students. Finally, we invite you to donate to the cause. Have you ever been frustrated with various charities who seem to spend the vast majority of the money they take in on "expenses"? So have we! We are not really a charity, but you are still free to donate to us. We promise that we will use every penny, cent, shekel, dinar or peso to fund native speakers to document, record and preserve endangered languages. Hop on board, you have arrived at a place where you can make a difference.
